Hurricane Katrina Hospital Case Study
Location: Biloxi, MS
Facility Size: 6 Medical Buildings

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall off the Gulf Coast. It hit land as a Category 3 storm with winds reaching speeds up to 120 miles per hour. Hurricane Katrina is still considered the costliest storm on record, reaching an estimated $108 billon in property damages. The town of Biloxi, MS was no stranger to those damages.

On the morning of January 2, 2018, SRM received notice that a Senior Living Center in Michigan City, IN had sustained water damage due to a sprinkler system eruption. During that time, the entire Midwest was experiencing extremely low temperatures, aptly named the Polar Vortex.

Devastating Flooding Hospital Case Study
Location: Maywood, IL
Facility Size: 178,000 Square Feet
Loss Type: Flooding

After a heavy rainfall in April 2013, flooding crippled operations at a Medical Center in Maywood, IL.  The 3-day event caused damage to roughly 178,000 square feet of the Clinical Laboratories, Administrative Offices, Procedure Rooms and their on-site Blood Bank.
